WATERSHED
CHALLENGE
to create a range of sample cans for the purpose of a technical demonstration for Watershed Packaging to showcase the quality and versatility of digital print.
Watershed wanted us to create something eye-catching, that also highlighted the impressive technical aspects of what can be achieved with digital print.
RESPONSE
We decided that a colourful mosaic pattern utilising variable data and digital print was the way to go, with cans being the perfect vehicle.
We produced unique artwork for 50000 cans, each featuring; punchy colours, thin lines, unique serial codes (writ large) and complex patterned white ink, which again was different on each individual can.
Seeing the print rolling off the HP Indigo 20000 press at Ultimate Digital was quite impressive, some subtly different, some dramatically, but each unique in its own right.
RESPONSE
Our first step was to meet with Niamh, founder of Treat Yo' Self Food Ltd and explain exactly why the printers had rejected their packaging. Needless to say the list was long; unlicensed stock imagery, poor quality illustrations, far too many colours, incorrect dimensions, unscannable barcodes etc... to name a few.
Working together we were able to quickly correct the designs, bringing them up to standard and at the same time offer significant improvements, including the addition of Hero Images for e-commerce.
