our first proper! trip
There have been numerous, let’s call them, obstacles to overcome in launching a new creative agency during the pandemic so as soon as the rules started relaxing we were over the moon to book our first proper! trip overseas, to Barcelona of all places.
As it was our first (hopefully of many) and a rather successful one at that, we wanted to document it with this blog. It also gives us the perfect opportunity to thank the wonderful team at HP Indigo and the HP Experience Centre Barcelona for inviting us and being the perfect hosts.
The purpose of our trip was to meet with customers and future customers of HP (we’re talking printers, not brown sauce btw), who had been invited to visit the Experience Centre, and to share our knowledge and experiences of working with HP Indigo on various campaigns.
Our trip started with an afternoon train journey to Manchester airport, an obligatory airport pint (just because) and then a direct flight to the wonderful city of Barcelona. Upon arrival we were greeted by a Chauffeur holding a sign with “proper! Guests of HP” (which made our day). We then just had time to drop our bags off at the beautiful Ohla Eixample hotel before heading out to Restaurant Mordisco for an evening meal and to meet our hosts from HP.
HP Experience Centre Day 1:
- Meet HP invited customers and guests.
- Morning presentations on sustainability, innovation and the benefits / capabilities of HP Digital Presses.
- Quick lunch and a chance to network in the courtyard.
- Guided tour of the print hall including live demos from the experts and a chance for us to talk about projects we’ve worked on using HP Digital Presses.
We then had time for a quick brainstorm meeting on the hotel's stunning rooftop bar before literally legging it around Barcelona hunting out Gaudi architecture and inspiration for our next HP project.

The evening then saw another fantastic meal at Restaurant Mordisco followed by somebody (I’m looking at you Peter) suggesting we head to a local karaoke / live music bar!... Luckily it was live music night.

HP Experience Centre Day 2:
- Meet a new set of HP invited customers and guests.
- We left the others to the presentations as Kester wanted to show us some of the other technologies HP were working on outside of the main print hall such as; impressive 3D printers, full vehicle wraps (there was literally a formula 1 car), extra large format print and some proper high speed digital publishing printers.
- We then joined back up with the gang (after a quick COVID test) for the guided tour of the print hall including live demos from the experts and a chance for us to talk about projects we’ve worked on using HP Digital Presses.
- It was then time to collect our extremely fancy packed lunches and head off to the airport to board our plane bound for Manchester via Portugal.
So to sum up our first proper! overseas business trip, it really was quite special and will certainly be hard to top, plus off the back of the trip we are now officially a registered supplier with HP / HH Global for creative work! This means that anyone within the wider HP network seeking creative work for their next project can log in to their HH Global portal, filter a supplier search by “Creative” and boom we’re there, no fuss.
Again a huge thank you to all that made this possible, we are very grateful, and we look forward to all future collaborations.
