We’re always happy to work (& play) with others, slotting into projects to add our expertise when needed. In this case our friends at RamJam reached out to ask if we could help them in creating outer packaging for an AR / Physical model they had been commissioned to produce for an upcoming awards presentation for Money20/20.
Our task was simple, to design a box to fit the bespoke 3D model securely, whilst considering an easy opening experience for the award recipient. The outer graphics needed to be functional and sit within the overall event branding for Money20/20.
RESPONSE
Due to the relatively small scale print run and the requirement for a bespoke carton that may have personalised elements we knew that digital print would be the way forward and that Kalas Packaging would be the best fit. We have collaborated on some fantastic projects in the past and the option for personalisation on their HP Indigo press is always good to have in the back pocket.
Working with Kalas, we created and refined the die-cutter for the carton, and designed an insert to hold the model securely that would also aid in the unboxing experience. The final solution was simple but effective, using a silver board to give a premium look and feel, and the clever insert to show off the personalised, 3D printed models straight out of the box (without losing the tiny microphone each one was holding!).
